Funny "match maker" story! It's official – My "guy" does not live in NYC!

So about a year and half ago I decided to do the online dating thing. It's really not as taboo as it used to be so I figured why not open up the dating pool! Match is one way to go, I've tried it, but it doesn't really have a good "crazy yahoo" filter. I think you have to pay extra for that feature (it's not really a feature, but it should be! I'd pay!) Anyway, I was googling around one night looking to see if there was another more discreet option with the "crazy yahoo filter" included. I found one that sounded pretty cool. I submitted my info and continued on my merry way. They only contact you if they find a guy that seems like a good fit. So...

yes, i'm still doing my daily yoga :)

Yes, for those of you yogis that thing I'm a slacker -- I'm still doing my daily yoga and taking notes!!  :) :) Will be updating as soon as I get Blake's fundraising campaign off the ground!!

Stay tuned!!! I've taken some GREAT classes too (and one not so great - but I think the teacher was just having an exceptionally bad day. That's the only explanation I can have for a teacher barking at me when I tried to use a block?!?! (hamstrings were super tight that day).  She said "no"as I went to use it.  I responded, "but I need to". She responded "fine, do what you want").  Yep.  Not really the zen yoga I'm looking for!!!  My girlfriend looked at me at one point and said "wow, she really doesn't like you".  This teacher had no idea I was blogging.  She knew nothing about me except that I told her I didn't have a ton of experience. My girlfriend and I walked in bubbly and happy, but she managed to suck the life out of us within the first 1/2 hour. She was definitely having a bad day. We all have them I guess. Hope she's happier today!!!

300 neurosurgeons + softball + charity = inspiring success!!

I'm a little backed up with with my blogging, but for good reason! Another successful charity event complete!!

With the threat of rain looming this past Saturday, emotions were running high. Sure we had a "plan B" but we've never had to use it so who knows how smoothly THAT would go! Thankfully we didn't have to find out! We could not have had a more perfect day! The rain Gods were listening!

This past Saturday, June 5, over 300 of the nation's top neurosurgeons (plus Toronto, Canada) flew into NYC in to play in a charity softball tournament (in Central Park) to benefit pediatric brain tumor research.

yoga day 14 | home practice

Today was our annual Columbia Pediatric Brain Tumor Research Fund charity softball tournament to benefit pediatric brain tumor research (wow, that's a mouthful! That's the official name, but you probably understand why we use the acronym! CUPBTRF)

I've already blogged about the event (see giving back blog archive for full story). In a nutshell, 300 of the nation's top neurosurgeons fly into NYC to play in a charity softball tournament to raise money and awareness for a cause near and dear to their hearts – pediatric brain tumor research. The event is incredible and the day is loooooong. My day usually begins at 6:00 am (picking up breakfast, etc) and doesn't end until at least 1:00 am. I'm broken by day's end.

I knew today was going to be a tough yoga day! I actually brought my yoga mat to Central Park as I thought I might be able to squeeze in a few sun salutations in between the madness. Um, NOT. Instead my mat was used as a blanket for folks to sit on. At least it was used! The only other chance I had to squeeze in some yoga love was going to be during the brief break I take to shower before the after party.

Venue: My friend's apartment, NYC

Cost: FREE (I like FREE)

Style: A few much needed "warrior" moves and a series of sun salutations.

Description: Surya Namaskar, the Sun Salutation, is a series of 12 postures performed in a single, graceful flow. Each movement is coordinated with the breath. Inhale as you extend or stretch, and exhale as you fold or contract. The Sun Salutation builds strength and increases flexibility. Different styles of yoga perform the Sun Saluation with their own variations. However, the flow presented below covers core steps used in most styles.

For the series, a single round consists of two complete sequences: one for the right side of the body and the other for the left.

On days when you think you have no time for yoga, try and do at least one or two rounds of the Sun Salutation – YOU'LL FEEL THE DIFFERENCE!

Today's forecast

Today's forecast: I'm actually not concerned with today's forecast, it's tomorrow's that I'm worried about – literally!  24 teams of the nations top neurosurgeons are coming out to Central Park to play in a softball tournament to benefit pediatric brain tumor research –– AND IT MIGHT RAIN. Might need to activate PLAN B for the first time in 7 years! OY!!

Departure date is delayed a bit (but for good reason!!!) :)

SO, I just received some new information regarding the celebrity poker tournament charity event in LA, June 23  – – I think it's advisable for me to begin my road trip adventure AFTER the event!!! Read about charity event here, if you haven't already!

Bill Goldberg, former World Wrestling Champion and recent star of Celebrity Apprentice, is our guardian angel. Not only did Bill make this new power wheelchair for Blake possible, but he is treating Blake to a week's worth of activities while we are in LA. Blake is so excited he can barely contain himself. You have no idea what this means to a paralyzed boy who has NOTHING (no family or money) and lives in a depressing awful nursing home.
