Blake's new tatoo! SORRY FOSTER CARE! errrrr

We were walking down Hollywood Blvd Tuesday night, on our way to Hooters, when we passed by a tattoo parlor. Yes, you heard me correctly, "Hooters" and "tattoo parlor" in the same sentence. I think I just quickly went from an angel to a devil in a blink (haha). No really, Hooters was just a photo op, we didn't go in. As for the tattoo, that's a little trickier to explain. Blake has been wanting a tattoo for years – ever since I've known him. As we walked by the shop, Blake says "I almost got one a couple days before we left!" I gasped. "What? Where on earth were you gonna go?" This kid is going to give me an ulcer. That's when it hit me (the ulcer and an idea). If this boy is hell bent on getting a tattoo, I want some control over it.  I will make sure he goes somewhere reputable and safe. I certainly don't want him rolling into some fly by night, dirty tattoo parlor in the Bronx. But really Blake, a tattoo – THIS WEEK on MY WATCH! Are you trying to give me a heart attack? Knowing NOTHING about tattoos, I decide to reach out to Bill Goldberg, a 280lb tatted wrestler – he MUST know where to go!!

Of course he did. Bill immediately jumped into action. Blake knows exactly what he wants... his name, a scorpian (zodiac sign) and his birthdate. Bill reaches out to one of the best shops he knows, Big Buddha Tattoos. Buddha, the owner, lines up one of his best, Gail, who specializes in life-like tattoos.

Big Buddha's is located in Anaheim. Perfect for us as we have box suite tickets to the Angels / Dodgers game at 7pm (courtesy of Bill).  We'll head up to Anaheim early – get a tattoo and take in a ball game.  Oh, what a night! I can't believe this is really happening!

Blake is an adult so he can legally do whatever he wants; however, I am slightly freaked out that my nice, pure, quiet paralyzed friend is going to show up back in NY all tatted up! Oh man, you can't make this stuff up! This was NOT part of our itinerary! Pretty comical. I decide to call Harlem Dowling Foster Care, Blake's legal guardians, as a courtesy to give them a heads up! I speak with Rita Sanchez, and explain what's going on... she laughs and thanks me for letting them know. I promise he'll be safe and she wishes us luck!

I leave Blake with Gail (and the home health aid) for a few minutes while I run out to pick up a few sandwiches. How long was I gone? Gail had begun sketching out the tattoo, but it was NOT the little tattoo I envisioned. Oh boy. This just keeps getting better. I have never taken xanax (or anything like that) but I think now would be the right time to start!

Blake was a trooper. He said it really didn't get painful until she got up to his name (she went from the bottom up). Of course, this was around the same time that a cackle of hot tatted up chicks gathered around Blake to watch Gail in action. Just too funny. Blake said there were moments he almost teared up from the pain, but there was NO WAY he would let them see him cry!

Midway through the tattoo, I take a picture with my phone and send to Bill. I wanted him to see what he helped me do! If I'm going down, he's going down with me! Bill responds "OMG", then insists he's paying for it! Bill has already done SO MUCH! I feel awful; however, I do give in for one BIG reason... it sounds a lot better when Blake tells his friends that Bill Goldberg, World Wrestling Champion, bought him his tattoo -- rather than his friend "Diana".

Thank you Bill. (AGAIN!)

Six hours and approx. 10 inches later, Blake had himself a new tattoo. As freaked out as I was, I had to admit it was pretty awesome. Gail is gifted. Blake had a serious work of art on his arm. The tattoo is impressive.

Oh, we also took in the ball game! We were LATE but we made it! Damien and Kevin, friends of Bill, treated Blake like royalty for the short time were were there. A great end to an already memorable day!
